One standout in their menu is the walking taco with slaw—a must-try that's been raved about by patrons like Melissa Dexter. It's a perfect blend of flavor and convenience, ideal for those on the go. But let’s not forget the star of the show: the hot dogs! Here at Sam's, the hot dog is not just a snack; it's a West Virginia tradition that you simply must taste. Barb Lutes, a returning visitor, emphasizes the importance of experiencing a WV hot dog topped with chili, slaw, mustard, and onions. She offers a cheeky warning: try one hot dog, but you might just find yourself craving a second!
For those who appreciate variety, Sam's also presents two distinct styles of hot dogs—regular and English—differing only by the bun. The real highlight, however, lies in their chili options; diners can choose between regular and a spicy hot version, both of which have received high praise. Milad Alibabaie and Maureen Flanigan have affirmed that whether you're digging into BBQ sandwiches or hot dogs, you’re in for a treat at Sam's.
Overall, Sam's Hot Dogs isn’t just about great food; it's about creating a memorable experience. From the top-tier menu to the friendly service, every visit feels special. “ This place was amazing! The menu is not complicated but all the food is top tier. I especially loved the walking taco with Slaw (a Sam's specialty) - DO NOT MISS. staff were very helpful and the place was super clean. Will totally come back. ”
“ Nice lil spot right outside of Charleston - kind service, and you can’t go wrong with either the hot dogs or their bbq sandwich ”
“ Visiting my hometown and had to grab a WV hot dog immediately! Nothing better than a hot dog with chili, slaw, mustard and onions. Don't make that face unless you have tried one and Sam's makes a pretty good one. They offer regular dogs or English dogs. The bun is the difference. But Sam's main attraction is their two choices of chili. Regular or HOT.. love them both. Traveling through WV.. stop on in and try one.. You'd better make it two or you might bead at yourself. ”
“ This is the place for a good West Virginia hot dog!!! ”
“ The two ladies are that work there are very nice and friendly I will be going back for some more good hot dogs ”
“ Sue & her asst were very friendly & helpful. When I was trying to find Sam’s ( hadn’t been there in couple years), I called & the asst answered. She was very patient with me & gave detailed driving directions. My husband & I love their hot dogs so much that we make it a point to stop to eat there when on our way to Ohio from Fla! Wonderful food & at excellent price! Rating on atmosphere was low because they are in the middle of remodeling. We will be back! ”
“ Excellent little hot dog stand! Great prices and friendly service. ”
“ The WV hotdogs were very, very good. I got the not spicy chili on mine, and I must say, the slaw was made perfect with just the right sized cabbage and sweetness. Yes, the choices are limited, but what I had for my first time here was soooo delicious. I had a fountain drink along with a triplet of doggage. You know, i drive rideshare all over the map. I like to stop in at hot dog places to try them out. The dogs here were very good, a nice size, and I thought, a very good price. As far as service, the woman who waited on me was a little sour. But, one doesn't know what's going on in their life, so just being kind and friendly back certainly relaxed her by the time I finished and left. I would say to you as far as a recommendation: "Green light". Just don't expect anything but a nice, very clean place, and delicious hot dogs. Enjoy! ”
